Why I'm Bad at Reading Magazines

{Maybe this should be titled "Why I'm Bad at Reading Magazines Versus Blogs"}

Let me preface this by saying that I don't impose these randomly-formed opinions on others...this is solely what happens in LeslieWorld.

1. It seems like an activity reserved for when I have NOTHING else to do. No shows to catch up on, no laundry, no sheets to change, no THANK YOU NOTES (which will not be true for a while), and post-baby no meals to eat, showers to take, or naps to catch. Perfect example... I started this post 6 days ago!

2. I will most likely be sitting at the computer at some point during the day anyway (maybe?)...how much quicker is it to click over to my Google Reader and skim a couple of posts before going along my merry way paying bills or checking email?

3. I can star or categorize blog posts in my Reader for later...and actually find them! {The "cloud" is helpful to folks with a propensity toward disorganization.} Magazine cut-outs, save some recipes, enter the wasteland of our desk for about a week before they get trashed by me or my dear husband.

I like magazines and magazine content. And philosophically, I do NOT want print to disappear and everything to be electronic or online. But this is just how it is.

If I ever DO read Real Simple or Martha Stewart, I enjoy the content greatly. It just never seems to make the priority list.
